SEMA debuts include sway bar kits, Xtreme Travel Remote Reservoir shocks, Classic Series shocks and new Performer IAS shocks
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Nov. 5, 2002) – With 65 years of experience producing quality performance products, the Edelbrock Corporation has a keen sense of where the market is going. That’s why Edelbrock has vastly increased its popular shock absorber line and other suspension products. Among the many new shock and suspension offerings that will be at the Edelbrock SEMA booth (number 22443), are: Xtreme Travel™ Remote Reservoir Shocks: Features include extra travel for improved off-road performance with increased oil capacity for cooler operation; a 5/8-inch diameter Nitro Steel piston rod for off-road durability; 46mm IAS valve for superior control in demanding conditions (which keep the tires on the ground and the chassis stable); and a great-looking zinc-plated finish with high-quality -6 braided stainless steel line. Edelbrock has combined the patented Ricor Inertia Active System with the benefits of a reservoir for extra travel and increased oil capacity delivering superior performance in demanding off-road conditions. Applications include a number of late-model GM, Ford and Dodge trucks, and a variety of Jeeps from 1984-03. Edelbrock’s Ricor IAS System delivers great handling response and a smooth ride over rough roads. This exclusive design switches instantly between a firm and a soft circuit for superior handling and a comfortable ride – the best of both worlds. IAS shocks – manufactured by Edelbrock in the USA – are tuned for each application and tested on a shock dyno. They feature polyurethane bushings; a NitroSteel® Piston Rod, which won’t chip or flake like chrome rods; plus a Viton seal and low-friction piston rod bearing for long life and no leaks. The mono-tube design provides excellent heat dissipation resulting in consistent performance under all conditions. Classic Series™ Shocks for Muscle Cars: Now, classic muscle cars owners can get the performance and handling advantages of the revolutionary Edelbrock IAS technology and high-pressure gas mono-tube construction with the classic look of a gray powder-coated finish. The new Classic Series shocks are mounted rod down and include the patented Inertia Active System for the ultimate in ride and handling. Available for all popular classic GM, Ford and Mopar muscle cars. New Performer IAS Shocks: Edelbrock Performer IAS shocks are now available for more than 300 cars, trucks and SUVs. A sampling of what’s new include, 1962-67 Chevy Nova; 2002 Chevy Dually 2WD 3500 HD; 2002 Chevy 2WD 2500; 1953-62 Corvette; 2000-02 GM Truck 2500 Heavy Duty 4WD; 2002 Dodge 1500 P/U 2WD; 1984-85 Toyota P/U & 4-Runner; 1989-91 Honda Civic & Honda CRX; 1968-69 AMC-AMX, Javelin; 1970-74 AMC-AMX, Javelin; 1988-97 Chevy Dually Crew Cab 3500 5-inch front, 8-inch rear (drop); and 1999-02 Ford Mustang Cobra (with IRS). Street Rod Shocks: These Edelbrock shocks are designed especially for popular street rod applications. Using a newly designed sintered metal velocity sensitive piston, the new Street Rod Shocks can be mounted in a piston rod up or down configuration. They deliver the ride and performance of a high-pressure gas charged mono-tube shock in a sleek chrome or black powder-coated package. The increased stroke allows for greater application coverage. Spring not included on coil-over units. Coil Springs for Street Rod Shocks: Edelbrock now offers 2-inch inside diameter coil springs to go with their new coil-over Street Rod shocks. Made by Eibach, using the finest materials, these springs are the ultimate in quality. The Eibach springs are sold individually. Edelbrock/Quickor Sway Bar Kits: Made of high-quality, black powder-coated, 4140 chrome moly for quicker reaction, longer life and fatigue resistance, these new sway bar kits are specifically designed for each application. They include the absolute best in hardware and fasteners including polyurethane bushings. And because they are set-up for specific applications, the sway bar kits are easily installed for a “no-hassle” fit. Applications include Camaros, Mustangs and several other GM, Ford and Mopar vehicles. Adjustable Heavy-Duty Upper Trailing Arms (PN 5255) for 1979-03 Mustangs: Award-winning design allows easy pinion angle adjustment for optimum straight-line acceleration and better handling. Adjustments can be made without removing the arms from the vehicle. Simply loosen the jam nuts and adjust pinion angle. A greasable spherical ball end allows rear suspension to move freely without bushing bind. Sold in pairs. Lower Trailing Arms (PN 5260) for Hummer H2, Tahoe, Suburban and More: Edelbrock has designed a new boxed tubing lower trailing arm with a spherical ball at the axle to maximize articulation without binding. The spherical ball features a special adjustable preload greasable Delrin race for a long, trouble-free life. The chassis end uses our greasable, fluted, polyurethane bushings. This design allows maximum rear suspension movement without bushing bind for superior ride quality. Applications include 2003 Hummer H2, 2001-03 2WD/4WD Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Denali, Escalade and Avalanche. All equipped with rear coil or air springs. In 2003, the Edelbrock Corporation will celebrate its 65th anniversary of manufacturing and marketing the highest quality aftermarket performance automotive and motorcycle products. Edelbrock’s ever-expanding product line now features more than 6,500 performance products, including exhaust headers, camshafts, carburetors, aluminum manifolds, exhaust systems, throttle bodies, suspension and shocks, EFI systems, nitrous systems, aluminum cylinder heads, crate engines, brake and fuel lines and fluid transfer products. The Edelbrock Corporation continues to be an active member of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), an organization Vic Edelbrock Jr. helped establish in 1963 as the “Speed Equipment Manufacturers Association.” Side by side, SEMA, the Edelbrock Corporation and the automotive aftermarket industry have each experienced tremendous growth since the 1960s.
