LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Nov. 5, 2002) – The names “Edelbrock” and “Glidden” are synonymous with winning and performance. So it’s no surprise that NMRA/NMCA and WFC world champion Billy Glidden is now part of the team designing the high-performance Edelbrock products he uses on his racecar. The results speak for themselves. “Before we switched to the new Edelbrock/Glidden Nitrous Nozzles,” Glidden said, “we would only get one race on the engine before we’d kill some parts. The old nozzles we were using relied on the nitrous plume to try to atomize the mixture, but the result was that the nitrous would actually limit or shut off the fuel flow, so you’d really have to be on top of your tune-up. “These new Edelbrock nozzles (patent pending) are tuner-friendly, they make good power, and the system responds well to minimum changes in the tune-up. The Edelbrock/ Glidden nozzles pre-atomize the fuel before it’s mixed with the nitrous, producing a better, more homogeneous mixture. We now have five races on the Pro 5.0 car without taking the engine apart, and still have good crankcase vacuum at the finish line. With the black car (world’s quickest Fox-body Super Street Outlaw car with a 7.51 @ 188.99 mph on 10.5 tire), we put 45 runs on it before taking it apart. There’s no question that these new nozzles are quicker and faster than ever before...period.” Glidden doesn’t just work on nitrous. His combustion chamber designs for the Edelbrock/Glidden Victor Jr. CNC head produce better flow above 0.500-inch valve lift and produces better power than current 20° heads. They are fully CNC-ported by the experts at Chapman Racing. Like all Edelbrock heads, PN 61309 features bronze valve guides, ductile iron interlocking valve seats, A356-T6 aluminum, 5/8-inch finished deck thickness, and all OEM accessory bosses. These hot new competition cylinder heads have a 2.5-inch exhaust bolt pattern for use with header flange plate (PN 7722). Glidden, one of two sons of NHRA Pro Stock legend Bob Glidden, continues to race on the NMRA circuit. In 2003, the Edelbrock Corporation will celebrate its 65th anniversary of manufacturing and marketing the highest quality aftermarket performance automotive and motorcycle products. Edelbrock’s ever-expanding product line now features more than 6,500 performance products, including exhaust headers, camshafts, carburetors, aluminum manifolds, exhaust systems, throttle bodies, suspension and shocks, EFI systems, nitrous systems, aluminum cylinder heads, crate engines, brake and fuel lines and fluid transfer products. The Edelbrock Corporation continues to be an active member of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), an organization Vic Edelbrock Jr. helped establish in 1963 as the “Speed Equipment Manufacturers Association.” Side by side, SEMA, the Edelbrock Corporation and the automotive aftermarket industry have each experienced tremendous growth since the 1960s.
