Prototype Turbo To Debut In Booth 1552 At SEMA IAS LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 19, 2002) – Steeped in performance and high-tech engineering like no other, JG Edelbrock has unleashed an array of exciting products aimed at the sport compact market, including a prototype turbo that will make its debut at the SEMA International Auto Salon in booth 1552. "Racing and performance are our heritage," said Vic Edelbrock, president and CEO of Edelbrock. "And that performance tradition continues with JG Edelbrock in the exciting sport compact market." According to Vic, JG Edelbrock is "extremely committed to this skyrocketing segment," which SEMA reports was worth $1.2 billion in retail sales in 2001. JG Edelbrock’s dedication to this marketplace includes a major print ad campaign in top-selling sport compact books such as Super Street, Turbo, Import Tuner and Sport Compact Car. The unveiling of the prototype turbo at the IAS event is a good example of JG Edelbrock’s strong thrust into the market. The turbo, designed for the 1992-2000 SOHC Honda Civic, will be featured on JG Edelbrock’s "test car" in its IAS booth. According to Brent McCarthy, Edelbrock chief engineer, the new turbo will be available in September. "The turbo is the latest Garrett-designed ball-bearing type which has faster response and reduced lag," McCarthy explained. "It will include high-quality Russell plumbing and be offered with or without an intercooler." But the best news about the turbo, said McCarthy, is that its been engineered to be a complete bolt-on kit with everything needed for easy installation. "High-tech engineering has been the hallmark for Edelbrock, and the JG Edelbrock turbo follows in those footsteps," McCarthy said. "The turbo and other JG Edelbrock products highlight our commitment to produce state-of-the-art, easy to install performance parts that puts real power at the wheels." Other JG Edelbrock products that will be displayed in the IAS booth include the company’s "Total Power Package," featuring Victor X manifolds, Pro Flo headers, throttle bodies, cam gears, camshafts, Performer EFI nitrous kits, cat-back exhaust systems, short shifters and knobs, plus Performer IAS shocks.
