4-Car Tribute To Vic Eldelbrock At Oakland Rod, Custom And Motorcycle Show

Edelbrock also sponsoring top prizes: the D’Elegance Awards
OAKLAND, Calif. (April 19, 2002) – With a name firmly linked to the rich history and tradition of rods and customs, it’s no surprise the Oakland Rod, Custom and Motorcycle Show is highlighting Vic Edelbrock with a four-car tribute in the event.

"I’m honored that to have four cars from my personal collection on display at the show," said Vic Edelbrock, president and CEO of Edelbrock Corp. "This is truly a great show and I’m glad everyone will get a chance to see the cars in person." The four Edelbrock vehicles on display are:

  • A fully restored 1946 Ford Woodie, reminiscent of the tow vehicle that Vic Edelbrock Sr. used to take the midget racecars to race at tracks such as the famed Gilmore Stadium.

  • An fully restored flathead Ford V8-60 midget racecar, like the one that broke the winning streak of Offy-equipped midgets back in the late ‘40s.

  • An Andy Brizio-built all-steel 1932 black flathead Ford Roadster, which is an exact replica of the one Vic Sr. used as a street and racecar. The original was used to develop the legendary Edelbrock aluminum heads for flathead Fords and helped launch Edelbrock.

  • A trick Posies-built classic ’57 Chevy. Edelbrock is also sponsoring the show’s top prizes, the D’Elegance Awards, which go to the winners of the most elegant rod, custom and motorcycle.
