TORRANCE, Calif. (March 18, 2002) - Looking to push the pedal to the metal with its public relations program, Edelbrock Corporation, makers of performance automotive and motorcycle aftermarket products, today announced the selection of Pacific Communications Group (PCG) as its PR agency of record. "This is the first time in our company’s 64-year history we’ve used an outside firm to handle our automotive media relations," said Edelbrock Chairman and CEO Vic Edelbrock. "PCG is a good fit with Edelbrock: both companies value performance, hard work, customer service and having fun. We’re looking for PCG to definitely give us a boost in several areas, including strategically integrating our media relations with our overall marketing." Established in 1995, PCG is an ISO 9002-certified and QOS-based integrated marketing firm headquartered in Torrance, Calif. According to Edelbrock, PCG will handle the day-to-day PR chores for all divisions of the company, including the extensive Edelbrock line of automotive performance products, exhaust systems, QwikSilver motorcycle parts, IAS Shocks and Russell Performance Products. "The PCG staff are enthusiasts and have a diverse background helping automotive and non-automotive companies stay in touch with media and consumers," Edelbrock said. "While Jack Mayberry, vice president, R&D (ext. 2812) and all of the "Fun Team" here at Edelbrock will continue to be available to all our friends in the media, I urge them to use PCG as an Edelbrock resource for anything they need." "Edelbrock has a reputation for quality, innovation and results that is recognized worldwide," said Shane Smith, PCG general manager, which represents clients in a range of industries, including automotive, financial services, food and hotel. "We are looking forward to working with an established industry leader with such a fine reputation." Added Smith, "When I was a kid, I had a neighbor who worked for Edelbrock, and every night he’d drive home in a different tricked-out, performance vehicle with Edelbrock products. I thought he had the greatest job in the world. We’re really excited about the account." Founded in 1938 by Vic Edelbrock Sr., Torrance, Calif.-based Edelbrock Corp. (NASDAQ NM: EDEL) is recognized as one of the nation’s premier designers, manufacturers and distributors of performance parts for the automotive and motorcycle aftermarket and is a driving force in the $25 billion specialty equipment industry.
