Tehabi Books to publish in-depth look at the remarkable history of one of the first, most influential and strongest aftermarket companies TORRANCE, Calif. (Nov. 4, 2003) – The “First Family of Fast” and the company that bears its name, Edelbrock, is to be the subject of a new book by Tehabi Books. Scheduled for release in the fall of 2004, with text written by veteran automotive journalist Tom Madigan, the book will tell the story of how America’s love for the car and performance shaped not only this country’s culture, but a family and a company as well. Tehabi Books, headquartered in San Diego, Calif., has published over 70 titles. Most recently it published The Ford Century in partnership with Ford Motor Company to celebrate Ford’s centennial in 2003. Additionally, Tehabi has produced numerous books on NASCAR, sports figures, historical subjects and travel. “About the time the second car was built, competition and a quest for speed became part of automobile heritage,” said author Tom Madigan. “Just as the name Ferrari is synonymous with sports cars and Harley-Davidson is with motorcycles, Edelbrock has come to define a culture – The American automotive tinkerer who turns simple ideas into high-performance technology. This book will tell how the Edelbrock company and family helped found the aftermarket industry and how it influenced, and was influenced by, world events.” The book will feature hundreds of historic photos from the Edelbrock archives, along with images of artifacts and ephemera from throughout the company’s history, including items from early hot rodding, dry lakes, land speed, muscle car and drag racing. “I am, of course, very proud of what my dad, my family and all of the many Edelbrock employees have accomplished over the last 65 years,” said Vic Edelbrock Jr, president and CEO of Edelbrock. “Our story is the story of American ingenuity, the love of mechanical things and going fast. The world has changed many times since my dad first drove his ’32 Ford roadster on the dry lakes of California, and Edelbrock has changed with it. It’s been quite an adventure and I think people will really enjoy reading about it.” The Edelbrock book will be premiered at the SEMA show in 2004. It will be over 300 pages and 80,000 words with hundreds of color as well as black and white images. Hardcover, deluxe and leather-bound editions will be offered.
