Chairman, President, and CEO - Edelbrock Corporation Chairman, President, and CEO - Edelbrock Foundry Corp. TORRANCE, Calif. (Nov. 4, 2003) – Vic Edelbrock has witnessed the unprecedented growth of the automotive aftermarket industry from its very beginnings, and has played a major role in the growth of the multi-million-dollar company he runs, Edelbrock Corporation, as well as the phenomenal expansion of the aftermarket industry. His father, Vic Edelbrock Sr., was a pioneer, starting the Edelbrock Equipment Co. in 1938, and quickly became known as an expert in the area of automotive performance. He began the Edelbrock tradition of high-quality parts and proven performance, which earned him a place in both the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame and the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Hall of Fame. Vic Jr. was born in Los Angeles in 1936, and grew up around his father’s business. After graduating from Dorsey High School, he attended the University of Southern California, where he graduated with a degree in business in 1959. He continues to be an active alumnus of USC. When his father passed away in 1962 at the early age of 49, Vic Edelbrock Jr., then only 26, assumed the position of President of Edelbrock Corporation. Vic Jr. has built Edelbrock into a $115 million-plus corporation and an industry leader in state-of-the-art automotive performance for racecars and street cars. In 1994, Vic took on the role of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Edelbrock Corporation. Vic’s philosophy of staying close to customers, car enthusiasts, and racers has proven very successful. He has maintained the tradition begun by his father of utilizing cutting-edge engineering and technology to provide high-quality parts and proven performance, made in the USA. Vic has overseen the expansion of Edelbrock’s top product lines, such as manifolds, cylinder heads and camshafts, which has driven the company’s growth. He has also expanded the company’s offerings to include carburetors, shocks, exhaust systems, nitrous, fuel injection systems and more, totaling more than 7,500 different products. The company went public in 1994, and is listed on the NASDAQ as EDEL. In 1989, construction began on the Edelbrock Foundry in San Jacinto, Calif., which has been called the most modern green sand aluminum foundry in the United States. The Edelbrock Foundry, which opened in 1990, casts all aluminum parts for Edelbrock, as well as for several other companies. Most recently, Edelbrock Corporation has expanded under Vic’s leadership, manufacturing and marketing internal engine, exhaust and suspension components to the import/compact performance aftermarket. In 2000, Edelbrock acquired certain assets of Russell Performance Products, making the producer of advanced fluid transfer systems part of the Edelbrock family. Under Vic’s guidance, the Edelbrock Corporation has grown to include eight facilities totaling more than 400,000 square feet located in Torrance and San Jacinto, Calif. It has divisions for Performer IAS Shocks, exhaust, suspension, Edelbrock carburetors for street and off-road motorcycles, and Russell Performance Products. Vic has long been active in the automotive aftermarket industry, serving as president of SEMA from 1970-74, in addition to serving on the SEMA Board of Directors from 1967 to 1989. He is a member of the SEMA Hall of Fame, as well as the Performance Warehouse Association (PWA) Hall of Fame. He was named “Person of the Year” by the PWA twice, in 1982 and 1987, and has also been honored by SEMA’s Street Rod Marketing Alliance (formerly the Street Rod Equipment Alliance). He was a regional finalist in the 1995 Entrepreneur of the Year awards competition, sponsored by Ernst & Young. Vic married his wife Nancy in Los Angeles on Mar. 21, 1959, and the couple, who reside in Rolling Hills, California, have three daughters and seven grandchildren. An avid automotive enthusiast, Vic races a 1963 Corvette Sting Ray, 1959 Lister and a 1969 302 Boss Mustang at vintage races throughout the United States. Daughters Camee (Edelbrock’s Vice President of Advertising and Marketing) and Christi (Edelbrock’s Vice President of Purchasing), often join him in vintage races, driving a 1968 Trans Am Camaro and a 1966 Shelby GT 350. In addition to his vintage race cars, Vic and the Edelbrock Corporation also own an impressive array of vehicles, which are displayed at Vic’s Garage, located at the Company’s Distribution Center which opened in 1999. Vic’s Garage is home to more than 30 classic vehicles and street rods, including an authentic steel-bodied 1932 Ford Roadster, much like the one raced by Vic Sr. at Muroc Dry Lake, a 1946 Woodie station wagon towing Vic Sr.’s V8 60 Midget racer, a top-fuel dragster, seven Corvettes, and numerous other muscle cars from Edelbrock history. Vic’s garage also houses Wa-Wa Too, Bill Ritner’s famous Hydro F-247, which in 1953 became the first boat in American Power Boat Association (APBA) history to be powered by a 265 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 engine.
