Edelbrock’S New Performer X Turbo System Provides Power Gains Of 65 Horsepower For Honda Civic In One Complete Package!

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 25, 2003) –Edelbrock Corporation has begun production of one of its most highly anticipated products in years, the Performer X turbo system engineered specifically for 1996-00 Honda Civics. The Performer X Turbo kit (PN 1500) was shown at the SEMA International Auto Salon in Los Angeles (Edelbrock booth number 3649).

Edelbrock’s Performer X turbo system is engineered specifically for 1996-00 Honda Civics equipped with the D16Y8 SOHC VTEC engine. Like all Edelbrock products, the Performer X Turbo Kit comes complete with all components needed for installation, and is the most complete kit available for Civics.

Edelbrock has designed the Performer X Turbo kit to provide more than a 60 percent power boost, from 105 horsepower to 170 hp, measured at the wheels.

The Garrett T28 ball-bearing turbocharger comes pre-assembled as one unit with a Ni-resist cast exhaust manifold, a cast iron exhaust elbow and inlet oil and water lines for the simplest possible installation.

The system includes a high-performance Performer X intake manifold with four extra injectors and a separate electronic controller to add fuel under boosted conditions. It also has an oversized Spearco intercooler and Tial blow-off valve. The Edelbrock exhaust manifold and elbow are designed for maximum flow at high-velocity for quicker turbo spool-up. Edelbrock has included an AutoMeter boost gauge with A-pillar mount pod, and pre-assembled Russell oil, water and fuel lines to make this the most complete kit on the market. It also features an O-ring sealed compressor, inlet/outlet pipe flanges, ceramic-coated turbo piping and high-flow air filter, plus all necessary gaskets, adapters, and detailed installation instructions.

Edelbrock’s Performer X Turbo kit will have an approximate street price of $3,500. Kits will be available at Edelbrock retailers nationwide.

Emissions-legal status for the Performer X Turbo Kit is pending.

Today’s product introduction marks the latest foray into the white-hot world of compact performance cars by Edelbrock, the industry leader in automotive performance. The SEMA IAS is one of the top trade/consumer shows for sports compact aftermarket suppliers and fans. SEMA estimates that the compact performance aftermarket industry has annual sales of more than $1 billion.

Vic Edelbrock Jr., President and CEO of Edelbrock, also announced plans for future turbo kits, including: 1999-2000 Honda Civic Si models; 1992-95 Honda Civics with SOHC VTEC engines; 1994-2001 Acura Integra GSR; 1994-2000 Acura Integra LS; and 1997-2001 Acura Integra Type R. Also, off-road racing turbo kits are planned for 1992-95 and 1996-2000 Honda Civic SOHC VTEC models.
