FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TORRANCE, Calif. (Mar. 8, 2005) - Two legendary names in performance have teamed up to create a Ford "street" engine that produces 654 horsepower at 7,200 rpm. Using Edelbrock/Glidden 18 Victor Jr. CNC cylinder heads (#61309) and an Edelbrock Super Victor 8.2 manifold (#2928), Billy Glidden has trumped the competition with a small-block Ford that produces 508 ft-lbs. of torque at 6,100 rpm.

"Billy's done it again," said Rick Roberts, director of engineering for Edelbrock. "Billy and I are excited about making this much power using an out-of-the-box cylinder head."

"I was pleasantly surprised by the horsepower," said Glidden. "The engine uses an out-of-the-box 2928 manifold and nothing special otherwise. It has a wet sump oil system, 1.65 rockers, and an off-the-shelf cam. These Edelbrock parts are what made the difference."

The Super Victor 8.2 manifold is designed for high-rpm and competition 289/302 engines with aftermarket Windsor-style racing cylinder heads with an 8.2" deck height.

The Edelbrock/Glidden 18 Victor Jr. CNC cylinder heads are based on the popular Victor Jr. CNC head for small-block Fords. The heads are fully CNC-ported by the experts at Chapman Racing. The casting is "rolled over" two degrees before machining, yielding a valve angle of 18 . Glidden designed the combustion chamber which produces better power than current 20 heads.
