NASHVILLE (June 5, 2005) - There's a new sound coming to Music City, as the rumble of hundreds of hot rods and street rods will mark the arrival of the Hot Rod Power Tour Tuesday, June 7.

Nashville's Gaylord Opryland Resort is Edelbrock's official stop on The Hot Rod Power Tour, and the pioneering American performance manufacturer, celebrating its 67th year of business, is going all out to bring excitement to the city.

The annual Hot Rod Power Tour, in its 11th year, is put on by Primedia's Hot Rod magazine. The Power Tour, an eight-day, seven-city cruise, features a super-cool car show, with hundreds of muscle cars, classics, street rods and other highly modified vehicles.

Among the activities Edelbrock has planned for its Power Tour stop is a carburetor-calibration contest for local automotive students from the Nashville Automotive Diesel College, a BBQ meal for 2,500 Power Tour participants, lots of cool cars and Vic Edelbrock signing copies of the just-released book "Edelbrock: Made in USA."

Written by veteran automotive journalist Tom Madigan, "Edelbrock: Made in USA" details the story of how America's love for the car and performance shaped not only this country's culture, but a family and a company as well. The new 324-page book by Tehabi Books is a beautiful look at hot rod history and the birth of the street rod, and the people who built and drove them.

One of the highlights of every year's Power Tour is an Edelbrock-sponsored carburetor-calibration contest for local automotive students. This year, 10 students from the Nashville Automotive Diesel College will compete for prizes. Each member of the winning team will take home an autographed copy of the "Edelbrock: Made in USA" book, and all participants will receive an Edelbrock goodie box.

"I'm always thrilled to be involved with the contest," said Vic Edelbrock, Jr., president and CEO of Torrance, California-based Edelbrock Corporation. "It's a way for us to help encourage the next generation of car enthusiasts, but the students also learn from the experience as well."

"The NADC is pleased to be a part of this event, and the kids are very excited to be a part of the Power Tour and take part in the contest with Edelbrock. It's a good balance of excitement and education for the students," agreed Steve Lovvorn, automotive technology teacher at NADC.

The Power Tour features a nightly prize giveaway, and Edelbrock is participating with a limited-edition pewter sculpture depicting Vic Edelbrock Sr. and Vic Edelbrock Jr. standing next to their 1932 Ford Roadster, the one for which Vic Sr. created the "Slingshot" manifold, Edelbrock's very first product offering.

Vic Edelbrock Jr., President and CEO of Edelbrock Corporation, will participate in the Power Tour, driving his 2002 Dick Harrell Edition Camaro, with a 400-horsepower LS6 engine that is sure to turn heads throughout.

Camee Edelbrock, vice president of advertising for Edelbrock (and one of Vic's three daughters), will be behind the wheel of Hot Rod Magazine's original 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS 350 test car. Edelbrock purchased the historic car from then-Hot Rod editor Jim McFarland in 1997. The red muscle car now sports an Edelbrock Victor Signature Series 383-cubic inch crate engine, the "biggest and baddest" crate engine, and the first of only 250 being produced and sold by Edelbrock.
