NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 6, 2005) - And they thought finals were tough! Students from the Nashville Automotive Diesel College (NADC) will test their skills in a friendly carburetor-calibrating contest put on by Edelbrock, June 7, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort as part of Hot Rod Power Tour. Nashville is the "official" Power Tour stop for Edelbrock, and the pioneering American performance manufacturer, celebrating its 67th year of business, is going all out to bring excitement to the city.

As always, the rumble of hundreds of hot rods and street rods will mark the arrival of the Hot Rod Power Tour. One of the highlights of every year's Tour is the Edelbrock carb-calibration contest for local automotive students. This year, 10 students from the NADC will compete for prizes. Each member of the winning team will take home an autographed copy of the "Edelbrock: Made in USA" book, and all participants will receive an Edelbrock goodie box.

"I'm always thrilled to be involved with the contest," said Vic Edelbrock, Jr., president and CEO of Torrance, California-based Edelbrock Corporation. "It's a way for us to help encourage the next generation of car enthusiasts, but the students also learn from the experience as well."

"The NADC is pleased to be a part of this event, and the kids are very excited to be a part of the Power Tour and take part in the contest with Edelbrock. It's a good balance of excitement and education for the students," agreed Steve Lovvorn, automotive technology teacher at NADC.

Among the other activities Edelbrock has planned for its Nashville Power Tour stop is a BBQ meal for 2,500 Power Tour participants, lots of cool cars and Vic Edelbrock signing copies "Edelbrock: Made in USA."

Plus, Edelbrock will be raffling off a limited-edition pewter sculpture depicting Vic Edelbrock Sr. and Vic Edelbrock Jr. standing next to their 1932 Ford Roadster, the one for which Vic Sr. created the "Slingshot" manifold, Edelbrock's very first product offering.

The annual Hot Rod Power Tour, in its 11th year, is put on by Primedia's Hot Rod magazine. The Power Tour, an eight-day, seven-city cruise, features a super-cool car show, with hundreds of muscle cars, classics, street rods and other highly modified vehicles.
