Edelbrock E-Series Cylinder Head Bolt Kit #85522 is a high-quality set of bolts for use on Ford 289-302 blocks with standard 7/16-inch head bolt bosses. This E-Series kit is a perfect choice when upgrading to Edelbrock Performer or Performer RPM Cylinder Heads. This kit includes step-washers for use with aftermarket aluminum heads using ½-inch head bolt holes. E-Series bolts have a yield tensile strength of 190,000 PSI for strong and reliable loading with generous filleting throughout to eliminate stress risers. Bolt threads are rolled after heat-treating for superior form and strength, while a small hex head provides extra space for socket clearance in tight situations. E-Series Cylinder Head Bolts have a durable black oxide finish with sealer and come with the distinctive Edelbrock “E” stamped into the head.

Installation Notes
The Edelbrock #85522 is made specifically for small block Ford V8; Apply oil or suitable thread lubricant to head bolt threads and the underside of bolt heads and washers.- Using the torque sequence (See Figure 1), torque all 7/16" bolts to 65-70 ft./lbs and all 1/2" bolts to 100-110 ft./lbs in four steps (30, 40, 50, 60-75; or 30, 60, 90, 100-110). Installation is the same as for original equipment cylinder heads. Consult service manual for specific procedures, if necessary. BOSS 302 CLONE ENGINES - Use Edelbrock Head Bolt Bushings with Integral Washers #9680 in place of washers supplied with your head bolt kit. Torque 7/16" bolts to 65-70 ft./lbs. in four steps (30, 40, 50, 65-70) following the factory tightening sequence. ALL ENGINES - A re-torque is recommended after initial start-up and cool-down (allow 2-3 hours for adequate cooling).
