Edelbrock E-Series Cylinder Head Bolt Kit #85582 is a high-quality replacement bolt set for big-block Oldsmobile engines equipped with Edelbrock Performer RPM cylinder heads. This bolt kit is required when installing Edelbrock heads on an engine previously equipped with cast iron heads. With Edelbrock and other aftermarket aluminum heads, a washer is required which this kit provides along with longer bolts to compensate for the added thickness of the included hardened washers. E-Series bolts have a yield tensile strength of 190,000 PSI for strong and reliable loading. Bolt threads are rolled after heat-treating for superior form and strength, while a small hex head provides extra space for socket clearance in tight situations. E-Series Cylinder Head Bolts have a durable black oxide finish with sealer and come with the distinctive Edelbrock “E” stamped into the head.

The Edelbrock #8558 is made specifically for Oldsmobile V8; Installation is the same as for original equipment cylinder heads. Consult service manual for specific procedures, if necessary.; Use Edelbrock head gasket #7340 or equivalent. Be sure that the surface of the block and the surface of the head has been thoroughly cleaned to remove any oily film before installation.; Use alcohol or lacquer thinner on a lint-free rag to clean. Coat threads, washers and underside of bolt heads with motor oil or special lube supplied with head bolt kit for accurate torque readings.; Torque 7/16" head bolts to 85 ft.-lbs. If using 1/2" head bolts (which require drilling out the bolt bosses in the heads), torque bolts to 90 ft.-lbs. Torque head bolts in three even increments; Start in the center and work out towards the ends. A re-torque is recommended after initial start-up and cool-down (allow 2-3 hours for adequate cooling).
